Our Mission
The Mahoning Valley Medical Society (MVMS) is a professional and scientific organization dedicated to supporting physicians and advancing quality medical care in the Mahoning Valley and across Ohio. With a legacy dating back to 1872, MVMS fosters professional development, public health advocacy, and community engagement.
Our History
Founded as the Mahoning County Medical Society with just ten physicians, our organization is the oldest professional group in the region. In 2016, Mahoning and Trumbull County societies united to form MVMS, continuing our commitment to serve physicians and communities with integrity and vision.

Distinguished Physician Award
Nominations are now being accepted for the 2025 Distinguished Physician Award. Established in 1978, this award is presented annually to a physician who is deemed to have contributed significantly to his or her profession, patients, and community.
Nominees must be members of the Mahoning Valley Medical Society and may be active, retired or deceased. Nominations will only be accepted from current Society members and should contain information about the nominee and why he or she should receive this award. Nominations should be limited to one page and submitted to the Mahoning Valley Medical Society no later than December. Submissions may be submitted by filling out our online form here or by mail below:
